Hello. I have a Asus L50vn with gt 8650M, on windows vista is working fine, with last driver available. I recently install a SSD, and I install windows 8.1, if I install nvidia drivers, the grafic card is stop working and the sistem freez. I tried with lots of drivers, even with the windows 7 drivers, but the same. If i let the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter drivers, every think works great, except games - but this is not an issue, I do not play to much.
The big problem is that time to time (I presume when new driver release from nvidia) the nvidia drivers come back and computer stop responding - I need to restart computers few times and try to delete the drivers as soon as i'm login to windows.
Any advice would be great.
Thank's
Andrei

You should only install the graphics driver package supplied by ASUS on it's website, in the support section.

However, Windows 8 & 8.1 are not supported on the L50vn model, as you'll see on it's driver download page:

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=3&s=139&m=L50Vn&os=&hashedid=RlUqSHz8f82wNNjY

That is the cause of your problems. The L50vn shipped with Windows Vista, and that's the only Windows version you can run on it. They don't have drivers for any other Windows version. You should have checked that before installing Windows 8.
