Oldish computer to tv hookup

I have an oldish computer, it doesnt have an hdmi port but it does have the vga port. What do i have to use to convert it to hdmi?

You would need an active converter. VGA can not carry audio either.

If you happen to have DVI it would be more easy. In most cases DVI will not carry audio.

By any chance does the TV also have VGA, some still do. TV's with VGA tend to have an 3.5mm jack for audio.

you could use a vga to hdmi converter. something like http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Converter-Resolution-Supported-SD-ADA31040/dp/B00KVJFMG2/ref=sr_1_13?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438817594&sr=1-13&keywords=vga+to+hdmi+adapter would give you audio and video.

Of course, you might also just purchase and install an HDMI capable graphics card (assuming you have an available expansion slot).
