Is it imperative that I run every single update for example the .net framework or could I simply update only the most recent? Are there any risks of corruption by skipping past updates? I am referring to all repetitive updates not just the .net framework, that is just an example and the most repetitive. If you've done this you will know why I am asking, it takes nearly an entire day to get everything up to date. I'm not a computer wiz so the most simple answer would be appreciated.

Yes, you can actually just skip those steps but if you're not planning on running the updates while you're using it or before shutting it down every time to complete those updates, I would suggest running them all now than later.
