one channel not working

I currently purchased a yamaha Rx-385 amplifier. There is no sound output from one of the speakers. I changed the ports and checked but its the same story. The speakers are fine. Seems like only one channel is working on A or B (Left). Where do you think the problem lies?

Most likely an electrical fault in the amplifier. Contact the manufacturer for a repair.

It's a 20yr old amp, got it second hand. So no way to contact the manufacturer.

Yamaha is very much still around. If it's over 20 years old though it's probably not even worth trying to repair except as a hobby. You can get a much newer amplifier for a few hundred bucks.

If you take the cover off the unit you might find fuses inside that have blown. This can indicate a fault in the unit or the fuse may have blown due to a transient event.
You can check the fuses visually or with a volt ohm meter. If you find a blown fuse replace it with the same value of fuse and see if that works. Otherwise the repair will be beyond the value of the receiver.
