Hello, C= and Ami friends,
A friendly reminder that the Commodore Vegas Expo -- CommVEx -- is
coming your way on July 30-31. Go to
http://members.shaw.ca/commvex05 for more information.
When I get back to the states, it will be a whirlwind of
preparation for this West Coast show. :)

Translation: "I gotta recharge all my camera batteries so I can snap
some pictures of Jeri!"

;) Just kidding, Robert!

I looked at the website. Jerri Ellsworth? I think maybe I want to go.
How many attendees do you think will be there? I mean, I wouldn't be
flying from Dallas to Las Vegas just to meet with a dozen Commodore nerds,
would I? I mean, I can do that here (except for Jerri's presence)

As atypical as she is, she is typical in this regard. When /. posted
about the DTV, she said her dad and brother got inundated with
propositions and/or requests for her phone number/personal information.
She thought it was very scary.

Concerning the normal worship in Commodore-land, she's not so bothered
by that, from what she's noted to me. She even seems to find it mildly
amusing. It's probably because it seems most of it is idol worship, not
lust, though that's just my opinion.

However, she seems a bit nonplussed by folks doting on her because she
is a female. She really doesn't see herself as a female hardware
designer, but a high school dropout, no engineering degree hardware
designer.

To answer the original question on this thread though, I think there
will be lots besides Jeri to warrant going to the CommVEX show.

But, if you are bound and determined to get into her inner circle, ditch
your copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence People", pitch the
"pick-up" lines, and brush up on boolean logic, "flops" (flip flops),
clock skew, etc.

Jim

Yep.

Heck, it be cool if there is a Jim Brain there.

(Not targetted at Jim Brain)

EXACTLY. In other words, FORGET trying to get her in bed with you or
whatever other crazy dreams and ideas. If you genuinely like her for who she
is as a person and not because of her looks, and respect her as deserved
then she'll probably be more interested in talking with you. At the same
time, it is better to have a common interest such as computer hardware
design such as boolean logic, gate circuits, MOSFet and things related to
computer hardware technology. Based on having met Jeri and talked to her in
the past on several occassions, I would simply suggest that you have some
common interest and knowledge in things like Commodore and hardware
engineering and the sorts because with that, THEN you have something to talk
about and a subject for conversions and the sort.

Please note: This is NOT idol worship. I am stating facts and from personal
experience. Don't read into it TOO much. I have discussed things like the
C-One
and the C64DTV and various things on those topics.

I also have noted that some people have MISUNDERSTOOD Robert Bernardo as
well. That is because of people reading into his posts too much. So be VERY
careful about reading into people's messages TOO much. Especially if it has
the word 'Jeri' too much. Don't forget that the one who complains about
topics pertaining to Jeri are the ones with the problem of having wet dreams
about her. :p

You make some valid points here. However, lets start with the fact that
I'm married and have a daughter too. If I end up attending, my wife
would at least be with me and possibly my daughter. However, on the flip
side.. If I were single. Jeri and I are the same age. Truth be told,
she isn't that attractive. Maybe I should rephrase to say she isn't
TTHHAATT attractive (emphasis on the word "that").. When I say this I am
referring to the super hot sci-fi chicks you referenced in your last
email. She is, however, quite pretty. Enough I would certainly date
and/or marry her. But the main attraction is her mind. You don't find
many women with an analytical mind. Most are all about emotion and
couldn't care less how the computer, TV, microwave, telephone,
automobile, etc... how they work. As long as they do work. Most women
computer technicians I know learned the trade at school and although they
can troubleshoot basic issues, they are incapable of understanding the
computer on a deeper level. Not because they are dumb. It is because
they just don't care enough. They don't have that high curiosity. Don't
get me wrong, most MEN don't either. But there are a lot, lot more men
who understand things on this level than there are women. If you take
the metroplex I live in (Dallas, Fort Worth) and rounded up everybody in
the city that knew as much about computers as me, I think you'd have
maybe a thousand. Then of those, who know more than me.. maybe 500. Of
that 200, I doubt any of them are women. I'd be surprised if there were
one. However, I can say that Jeri knows more than me.

On a seperate note. I actually worshiped Jeri from the moment I learned
about the commodore one and DTV. Funny thing is, I thought "Jeri" was a
guy. I guess I should have realized the spelling was different. But I
know a lot of men named Jerry and being the nature of the field, assumed
Jeri Ellsworth was a man. Once the slashdot story came out I realized he
was a she. Then it became even more interesting. So even if Jeri was a
man, I'd still want to meet him/her because of the accomplishments. I'd
have lots of questions. and I'd try to bribe him/her into giving me a
DTV chip that I could mount on my own board! (snicker!) or a DTV-2

I've also talked a lot to my wife about Jeri. Not because I am trying to
make her jealous or anything. I have always wanted her to be more
interested in computers. She'd be happy if I took all my Commodore,
Amiga, Apple, and old Mac stuff to the dumpground. She doesn't care much
about her computer until it stops working correctly and I have to fix it.
She is kind of one of those femi-nazi type women. so I figure if I could
show her that another woman our age is really into computers like this,
maybe she could be too.
