In setting up powered external speakers for this monitor I'm unable to find a way to have the volume controlled by the remote. Only analog audio out is main LR outs and that output is fixed. Digital outs won't help me in this situation. Manual says nothing except that purchasing Regza remote compatible amp will do this. But all I want to do is hook up the powered speakers I already have : )

I'm leaning at this point that there is no variable audio output anywhere and no way to change the main LR out to respond to the remote volume via the menu, so I simply can't do this. Is this the case? Thanks very much : )

Solution
If you connect your audio system via HDMI-ARC it can be controlled by the TV volume but otherwise the only variable audio output on most TVs is the headphone jack if it has one. They assume that you will have a volume control in the audio system.
It is possible to connect a remote volume control in between the TV and speakers. There are finished products.
