Optic to RCA

i have a new Samsung UA32M5500 TV and i have Sennheiser wireless head phones.
The TV only has Optical Audio output, so i bought a Optical cable and a Pudney P18011 Digital Audio Converter Box.
These work fine with the TV service, but when i try streaming Netflix & Neon, i just get static. i have talked to Samsung Support and they could not resolve the problem.
Any ideas?

Did you try changing the audio output type in the TV audio menu?

yes we tried that and it di not make any difference
