Optical out to optical out

Hi..My Led smart TV has optical out. And my DVD player too got optical out...can I connect both .and listen to audio of TV to a external speakers which is connected from DVD player by RCA.

If you have out you need in - you can use your TV optical out and DVD player optical out but make sure audio system can accept both, this will let you play your DVD player without the use of TV such as playing CD music. However the best connection would be - if you only use the DVD for playing movies then connect the DVD to the speakers and use RCA from your TV to your speakers.

You cannot connect two optical outs to each other. You can use a DAC like this one

to convert the TV optical audio out to analog RCA audio out and connect that your audio setup. If you only have one input you would add an input selector switch (or just plug in and out the cables).
