Optical to HDMI

Question for AV equipment communication.

Have a Smart TV with optical output only.
Have a receiver with HDMI input only.

What is the best solution to connect these devices economically but not sacrifice quality or features?

Any ideas or recommendations welcome.
Is a basic Optic to HDMI cable the solution? Is it that easy?

There is no cable that can convert light to an electrical signal. What kind of receiver is this?
Never seen or heard of one without any digital audio inputs. If the TV and receiver have ARC then that HDMI cable could be used to send TV audio to the receiver.
