Lenova ThinkPad E545 fan runs often and makes the surface and bottom left side very hot to touch. How can I clean/fix this?

Solution
NOTE: If the laptop is under warranty, do not do any of the following yourself as you would void said warranty. Instead contact the manufacturer about a repair.

1. Clean out the inside of the laptop. That means opening it up and cleaning out any dust, debris, etc. Clean it from all surfaces, the fan, make sure the vents are not blocked, etc.

2. Change the thermal paste. Old paste can lead to overheating.

3. If necessary, replace the fan(s).

4. If you don't feel comfortable doing the work yourself, and it isn't under warranty, then try taking it to a local tech.
