For one, a P4 is an access card used to subscribe to DirecTV.

secondly "....alt.satellite.4dtv" does NOT stand for "FOR Direct TV." it is
for the Motorola 4DTV receiver used with C band, aka the big dish, where we
have no need to steal, because between analog,4dtv(dc2) and mpeg-2 we are
already having to write channels down, because we get so much more than we
can remember at a quality that really does rival DVD!

Yesterday,I taped a movie off of Showtime ,s-video output,in S-vhs-et on
regular video tape with almost no loss of resolution(it still looks
stunning!) and way better than DBS and the sound is awesome!

Why would we want direct "fuzzy" tv?

well lucky you all for being ablr to have "the big dish" ... i am sure
you pick up some channel that you don't suppost.. I thougt i was
somewhere where peps tlk about these p4 . I am currently subed to
digital cable for 1 year so i am not intending to "steal" but do know
some other people who are asking/looking for help on making their TV
experience a bit cheaper. I am also curious since there is a big fuzz
about these p4 being "untouchable" IMO man made, man can break, just a
matter of time.. so if i am out of line in this server about this
subject, then maybe you could point me in the right direction?

Yinki,

From your post, it appears that you don't understand
you're in the wrong place to ask questions about
DirecTV. This is a "big dish" group that you've posted
into. Your post is what is considered to be "off-topic".
You'll only get smart-ass or derogatory answers. What
you're doing is like going into a tittie bar and asking
"where the hell are all the naked guys?". Does this make
sense to you? I don't mess with the little dishes, and
neither do 99%+ of the people in this group. Go look for
a DirecTV group, and perhaps you'll find what you're
looking for. I'm not trying to be mean-spirited, just
trying to point you in the right direction.

The P4 card has everything to do with paying for DirecTV service. If
that means saving money compared to cable, perhaps that can be done.
If you are thinking the card you use will somehow lower a DirecTV
bill, it doesn't work that way, all subscribers pay the same price for
the same thing, regardless of the access card used. If you thing
defeating security of an access system has to do with saving money,
you are wrong, that has to do with only one thing; Theft of services.

The problem is:

You buy the receiver and the card comes with it.You're asking where to get a
"p4 card" with no mention of a receiver. How can we suppose any less than
theft?

You're in the wrong newsgroup anyway.
