PAL equivalent to "A Video Standard"

Was there ever a video calibration disc released for the PAL market?

Am I right in thinking that a system set up for playback of NTSC
material would not be optimal for PAL material (I've seen somewhere that
NTSC discs are generally brighter)?

There was no PAL version, and you're right that ideally you should have
separate calibration.

Hmmm, what if I played "A Video Standard" with the player set to PAL-60
mode?

It's not ideal, but since there was no PAL version it's as close as
you're going to get, I think.
