I love all the thumbs down also for people slamming Apple...lol Apple has 90% of the "premium" computer market. What a joke..since Apple computers now use Intel chips you can totally compare apples to apples now. I can build a PC more powerful than ANY Apple computer at 1/2 the cost. So all you Apple lovers are paying a 50% premium for Mac OS...you can have it..haha. Any Apple is simply a fashion accessory....

Just go to Apple's website and look at their "cheapest" Mac Pro.. 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon based system for $2500....are you kidding me??

I went to Priceline.com and took the Mac Pro's specs and built a PC based on those specs with parts soley from that website. I got a faster processor, bigger HD, more RAM, Blue Ray drive and better graphics card plus Antec case...my total in parts? $1300.... nuff said...

Apple is stupid for blocking this vendor ID. They are greedy if you think about it. All they care about is margains and making consumers purchase all their expensive junk.

Palm should seriously sue them and on top of that purchase the USB devices with the same vendor ID. PROBLEM SOLVED, but not for the current purchases of the Pre.

COME ON APPLE STOP ABUSING OUR WALLETS.

I don't understand why Apple is so upset. If I decide I want to buy a Palm Pre and not use my iPhone, why is Apple so upset about it? If I can sink my Palm Pre with iTunes, chances are that I am still going to buy music through iTunes for my Palm Pre... Apple's only seeing glass half empty here...

[citation][nom]otacon[/nom]Palm's complaint is that Apple is physically blocking the Pre from connecting to iTunes by manipulating the USB interface. Apple might own iTunes but it doesn't own USB...Palm has a case. Everyone slams Microsoft for being a monopoly. Apple is the biggest monopoly on the planet.[/citation]
Apple is not "physically blocking the Pre from connecting to iTunes by manipulating the USB interface". They are simply reading the information from the USB ID. It is Palm that is manipulating the USB ID on their own devices so that iTunes thinks they are actually genuine Apple devices.

I don't know if apple should be doing it or not (legally), and quite frankly don't care. The big question here is WHY in the HELL would palm want to connect with apple garbage in the first place?
