I am a new librarian at an elementary school and wanting to begin playing some soft music during the day. I have some very old speakers currently, but they're wired. I'd like to either build upon this or find a system where I can hook one main speaker to the computer (I'll likely be playing Amazon Music Playlists) and then would want a few other wireless speakers spread throughout the library. The space is fairly large, but the music doesn't need to be loud. I don't have a lot of budget to spend on this.

I would love some suggestions for what you think may best fit my needs. Thank you!

You can use bluetooth speakers but you will be limited to two wireless speakers. You would split the audio output to connect to the wired speaker and the BT transmitter

A wifi setup would not be limited but more expensive. A speaker like this one

or a wifi access point that you would connect powered speakers to would be another option

If you have a drop ceiling then a fully wired set up with in ceiling speakers might be an option too.

Get in touch with someone teaching computers at your school. Building WiFi radio(s) out of Raspberry PIs will be fun project for both the teacher and the kids. You can then program these "radios" to play same station, or host that station on your PC.
