hey folks i need some much needed help / advice.

i recently purchased a DVI-I to HDMI cable, on the basis of reassurances by the seller that this would indeed also play sound through the cable. ive hooked it up today and guess what a picture but no sound, ive tried messing around with it, with no luck and cant seem to find much info after seaching. so looking for you whizz kids to help

my specs are as follows (i use the onboard motherboard audio);

intel core i7 920
asus p6t
xfx 275 gtx

A DVD-I cable does NOT support audio, it's video only.

If your video card has an HDMI port, you can check in the BIOS whether you have a switch to route the sound to that port. You'd need to get an HDMI/HDMI cable.
