I posted this here and in the games forum...please help!
I continually get "phantom" keystrokes or mouse button actions executed while playing games. It happens every so often in games including: Balder's gate II, Blade of Darkness, Sacrifice, and Black & White. It only seems to occur during gameplay, thus I'm wondering if it is a DirectX problem? And not a windows or driver problem?
I am using DirectX 8.0, I have and Intellimouse Explorer (that has a USB connection that uses an adapter to fit in the typical PS/2 mouse plug on the computer) using the latest Intellipoint Software Package from Microsoft (I assume the mouse drivers are included in this software package?), Athlon 800MHZ w/ Abit KA-7 Mother, Windows 98SE(4.10.2222), Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG, and 256MB RAM.
This is very frustrating because it makes you do things in the games that often can get you killed, etc. The computer seems to "make up" it's own actions and your character in the game does them without any user input from me. It usually seems like it quickly executes, in a quantum burst, about 2 to 4 mouse commands (such as 'right click', 'left click', or 'mouse wheel-button click') and then scrolls (like movement with the mouse) a long distance in some direction...usually to the left. Then stops and things are normal for a few more minutes.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?
