I recently bought a 4K monitor, and wanted to try it out with my old Blue-Ray player. The Blue-Ray player only supports up to 1080p, but I thought it should just display 1080p anyway. The problem is that when I play a disc to the monitor, there is a transluscent pink screen on top of it. It works fine with my 1080p monitor. Does anyone know why this is happening? What settings should I change?

Blue-Ray player: (It's quite old, only up to 1080p) Sony BDP-BX57
Monitor: 4K Samsung UR55

try updating the firmware of the player and the TV

let HDMI connected, unplug power of both devices, press the TV´s power button for about 20seconds, then press the power button on the player for about 20 seconds.
Plug in power again to the player, then the TV and power on both devices

That didn't seem to work...
