Pioneer CLD-99 it play CDs but wont play LDs, It spins in the right direction for 3-5 seconds then it start to spin backwards , 5 seconds later it stops then P5 error code shows on display,This unit it seems to be brand new, at first it would shut off after 5 seconds , but after removed the R2 resistance close to the fuse it stays on.

So, originally, the CLD-99 would shut off after 5 seconds. Then you removed the R2 resistor and now have the backward spin problem - correct?

Regarding the removal of the R2 resistance (resistor).

What purpose does (did) that resistor serve and what prompted you to remove it?

Do you have the necessary electrical schematics for the CLD-99?

A Pioneer LD is not "brand new"
It is 20+ years old.

It may have been 'new in box", but it didn't come off the assembly line last month.

This fault could be a lot of things. Solder whiskers or caps drying out, for instance.
A lot can happen in 20 years.

I had removed the resistance previously on 3 or 4 Pioneer Laserdiscs, because they blew the fuses , after I removed them they were working fine , thats why I removed it on this one, how do I know about it, I read it on one of those threads online. The fact is that after I removed it it wont shut off , it stays on. No I dont have the service manual but I can get it for few $.

Internal fuse or a house circuit fuse? Internal I would think...

If house then you may be taking undo risks by modifying the receiver(s).

Anyway, what once worked before may no longer work. Per USAFRet, "A lot can happen in 20 years".

Manufacturer's take a dim view of having their products "modified" (or even DIY fixable) especially if doing so bypasses some safety factor (e.g., internal fuses).

Would not surprise me if there was some design change with the end result being exactly what you are now encountering.

Service manuals may help if you can obtain copies for older and newer models. Compare the schematics, warnings, etc..
