Playing games off an external hard drive or flash drive

I have the new Razer Blade 14" and I am wondering if I am able to install games like Battlefield 3 onto an external hard drive or flash drive and play it on my computer without having to install it all on mine. I'd prefer not to even have a trace of it on mine. I also am wondering if there is an option, if the above is possible, to hide the game file like you can on a computer.

This will work for most games. Simply transfer the entire game file to your external drive. Open the folder and find the application link to start the game, or just place a shortcut on your desktop. As for the second part of your question, I don't know the answer. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the stuff I can see.
