Hello I.T experts, I'm new here but I'm really happy to be part of this community!

I want to create a DVD I can watch on my regular TV so I was about to download and install "DVD Flick" but I don't know how I can check if it's a safe app or not.

Could someone please tell me if it's a safe app and doesn't contain any viruses or trojans?

Thanks!

As long as you download it from the developer's website it should be fine.

You're up-to-date AV software should also be monitoring the download for malware content.

Thanks, but DVD Flick isn't available on the Microsoft Store so I don't know how I can trust the developer's website? I mean, the developer could put malicious code in the DVD Flick app and people could download it and assume it's trustworthy because it's from the developer's site... Right?

I'm using "Windows Defender" from Microsoft and I always keep the virus definitions up to date.

If I did install an app that contained malicious code, would Windows Defender 100% protect me or would it be too late?

It's a fairly niche product, so I'd say you've got a low chance of someone stumbling on this thread who uses it.

Self-signed TLS cert configured for 'localhost' is a mild red flag, though common on low-budget sites.
