Please help. What is this part?

First off, I'd like to thank the community. Long time reader. I was disassembling a laptop to clean it. After I reassembled it, I realized that a small rectangular part was left over. I have no idea what it is or where it goes. It's maybe about 2" x .5" I've attached pictures. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've watched several disassembly videos and couldn't find it. The laptop seems to work fine without it, but it must have a use.

May we know the model of your laptop? I would suggest consulting the service manual or look for a video guide on how to disassemble the laptop.

Thank for your response. I updated the post. The model number is HP DM4-3099SE. I've also already watched several disassembly videos and didn't see anything. I've opened up and worked on at least a dozen laptops, but this is my first time seeing something like this.

That looks very generic, but if it's really 2x1/2 inches you can't find a spot where that fit? That's a very large empty area that would be left with it missing.

Couldn't find any spot. This is really confusing.
