[citation][nom]stm1185[/nom]Someone needs to come up with a law limiting damages to the cost of the product on the open market.[/citation]
While I'm against our current copyright system, that is a ridiculous suggestion. If that was how the system worked, everyone would pirate everything and the media holders would have to sue everyone just to get paid. Not to mention that it would cost a lot more to sue someone that they'd get back, even if successful.

Perhaps my sarcasm detector is malfunctioning.

Gee I wonder if that new outbreak of HIV positive tests had anything to do with "hurting the adult film industry" this year? and I wonder if THAT's what promted the lawsuit instead.

[citation][nom]f-14[/nom]that's why intel implemented a cpu identifier since pentium3 that reported it's ID back thru the web. it was later made an option to turn it off, but by default it comes turned on. yet another reason to run AMD? haha idk, like finding out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop, the world may never know[/citation]

I'm not generally one to defend Intel, but that "feature" was dropped years ago: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_III#Controversy_about_privacy_issues

Nagh I think it comes down to simple common sense from a males POV; WTF am I going to PAY to toss-off??! Haha tossing is and always should remain free or mad cheap; I'm not shelling out $30 for a misleading box cover and horrible scenes and some sleazy ball stereotype to drive a Bentley around with his plastic doll entourage.

Call it what ya want; "illegal" pron DL'ing is like telling folks to always obey the speed LIMIT; ain't happening, never will.

I've bought 2 porn vids in my life....I don't think I should have to continue paying to see the exact same scene, with different whores imitating the same fake orgasm.... Give me a woman who has a real orgasm....after actually get pounded for 20-60 minutes...instead of a woman that fakes an orgasm after getting pounded for 20-30sec, that's repeated for 20-60mins. When the porn industry releases some realistic scenes (meaning there's no completely unbelievable script, followed by 20-30sec of "sex" that's just replayed constantly). Instead of sueing for profits....make the "actor" and "actress" actually earn that money....

[citation][nom]williehmmm[/nom]Blackmail, pure and simple. You contest it if you're alleged to have downloaded "Iron Man 2", and if your name shows up in local newspapers so what, you know it'll cost the more in lawyers fees than they'll ever get awarded in court. But if they claim you downloaded "Teen Anal Nightmare 2", they are pinning their hopes that you'll not want the world to know what you knock one out to, so you'll pay to settle out of court. That was the strategy of ACS:Law in the UK and they just got their ass handed to them by a mass denial of service attack which caused them to expose the root of their network to the world, including all email correspondence for the last year. That breach of data protection laws will likely bankrupt them and has seen the, ahem, gentlmen porn producers and senior lawyers involved become the target of spam, ID theft, harrasment and a abrupt halt to their dubious quasi legal blackmailing. The irony is that those individuals named in those email exchanges can now sue the porn producerss, the law firms and their own ISP companies for releasing their data in an unprotected format. It's going to be costly. How secure do you think "West Coast Productions" & "Adult Copyright Company" computer systems are? Not secure enough I'd guess, for a dedicated team of robin hood hackers who want to put a stop to this blackmail and copyright witchhunt.[/citation]

Roll out the 4chan party wagon....

Searching in Google NEWS there are about 60,000 are getting letters this year. With the cost to hire a lawyer at around $2,000 just to start, its cheaper just to pay when the ask for money later ($1,500 to $2,900)

An other option is to down load the forms to file your own motion to Quash or dismiss because you live out side of the DC court district do a search in google on:

lawyer offers self help to sued bittorrent users

the first link to come up is a torrent freak one. The link to the docs is at the end in a link in the text of the doc

Remember to NOT use your name, file Forms 3, 4, and 5 but not #2 as that requires your real name.

Proof that IP addresses can be Spoofed (as found in other Court Docs online)

Just like with Email addresses, IP addresses can be Spoofed or shared. In fact, the Plaintiff states in there OPPOSITION TO MOTIONS TO DISMISS (Page 17 Doc 109) “that IP addresses can be shared” as they Quoted from a technical source as to why they needed the information from the ISPs. Further evidence that IP addresses can be “Spoofed” can be found in

a University of Washington Technical Report,UW-CSE-08-06-01

and the fact that details can be found on the internet by searching on the key words
haynes change my cable modem's ip address

Do a Google search using the key words. The first and 2nd listings are the most common methods.

im stil schocked at the number of people who think it is ok to steal , but wrong for the people who got stolen from to do any thing about it. I'min texas , and yes if i catch you sytealing in my house i will splatter your brains acrosss my living room wall witha 12 guage.

that said these media outles are only taking what they deem the only solution ,m sicne they never catch these guys red handed. and that is law suits or DRM in the case of video games. workign under the beleive they have no right to preventive measure or vengence on the theives ,is the same thing as saying they should not allow you to get an alarm on your house or own a gun for your personal defence.

[citation][nom]poxenium[/nom]Sharing is wrong, they should teach it in schools all over the world.[/citation]

actually it's not "sharing" i always hated the file "sharing " programs for putting such a cute freindly term on it . sharing is when you share some thing you OWN . you cant own a movie or a siong , or software , these by thier very definition is a right to use license , which that licnese is subject to an EULA and rarely do these EULA acutally give said license purchasers the right to "share" the license.

hard truth is this is a worlkd of law and as much as we hate it the law doesn define that media generally falls under licensing not actuall owner ship therefore, some one that buys them is only buying a right to view , play ,or listen to the content the license gives them acess too , it doesn't allow them to use it for comercial gains , or share it freely with some one that didin't buy a license themselves.

so file sharing is not sharing it shoudl be called "license stealing"

I agree with krokodile.

Apparently, the profits from Phat Azz White Girls 1 were so piss poor that they decided to make P.A.W.G 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6 just for the hell of it!

I'm calling BS on this one.

And besides, Onion Booty was a better series anyway!

...or so I've heard.

I received a subpoena from ups today, actually it was in my mom's name because the internet is in her name, I am extremely upset because I would never ever view any type of material like they are claiming that I illegally downloaded, Teen anal nightmare, this seriously has created a lot of drama as my parents are extremely anti porn, I pay for the internet but it is in my parents name because I am renting their basement and they have a comcast package deal and are on a contract.

I am relieved to see this article though to know that I am not the only one but would you all suggest that I get an attorney?

I really would like to get rid of this issue because I am dealing with so much other stuff in my life right now to the point where this is way too much to handle. I have downloaded porn videos in the past, I wont deny that but this specific video I have no recollection downloading. Any advice from anyone would be very helpful, I have 30 days to respond and contact them before comcast gives them all my personal information. So they say..

Please, any feedback would help because I am seriously stressing about this big time.

Thanks.
