Question Possible to send text from laptop to dumbphone?

Hi,
Is it possible to send text from a laptop using email to a dumbphone?
I just tried one on youtube,
..but it didnt work...i used "EE" for the carrier bit.....(not att like he did)...i am not sure if this is right (i am with EE on my dumbphone)
