powershot A75 not powering up

i just opened my A75 that came back with my grandparents from canada now i fitted in the batteries that came with it and put in the compact flash card and pressed the on button and nothing happened. I checked and i checked but i couldn't find any problem.

what happens is when i press on the power light and the lower light next to the view finder blinks once and then nothing happens. If i keep on pressed they keep on blinking but still nothing happens.

is there something i'm missing? or should i throw it in the trash and consider it a waste of cash?

Tried new batteries? Got any spare flash card you can test?

Yes, try new batteries. Also try powering it up without the CF card in it.
