Problem changing default GPU

I want to change my default graphic card, so I go to Nvidia CP > 3D Settings >Global Config then I change the preferred graphics processor from "automatic selection" to "High performance NVidia processor", I apply the change BUT when I close the Nvidia CP is goes back to "automatic selection", this is driving me nuts. Help Pls!
