Hello there, I have an LG 47LA6200 (Cinema 3D Smart TV) and a 5.1 LG HT306PD (DVD Home Cinema System).

As I connected them with an HDMI cable, I am receiving the audio and video. Likewise, the surround speakers work fine with DVD, but I cannot get the speakers to work through my TV and there is no TV sound when I watch cable TV or play Netflix / Youtube through external 5.1 speakers. I tried to use the 2 x male cable (Red/Yellow) in DVD AUX, but my TV does not support it.

For your reference, I have inserted following links for my LG TV (http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-47LA6200-led-tv) and my LG DVD Home Theater http://www.lg.com/eg_en/home-theaters/lg-HT306PD.

Please help me so I can simply hook up these 2 components (DVD and TV) to work off the surround sound speakers. If I need any external device (converter/amplifier), please let me know. Thank you for your cooperation.

Solution
That receiver does not appear to have ARC however it does have optical so you would need an SP DIF cable and an HDMI cable between the TV and the receiver this would then give you the 5.1 for the TV and the DVD player would connect to the receiver as normal with an HDMI cable.

I appreciate your reply. The side inputs of my LG TV has 3 HDMI ports including one HDMI IN (ARC). Please see this picture: https://www.rtings.com/images/reviews/la6200/la6200-inputs-side-medium.jpg

And this link shows that shows the rear inputs:
https://www.rtings.com/images/reviews/la6200/la6200-inputs-back-medium.jpg

The back panel of my LG HT306PD (5.1 DVD Home Cinema System) has following inputs/ports: http://img27.olx.pl/images_tablicapl/158432335_2_1000x700_zestaw-kina-domowego-lg-ht306pd-dodaj-zdjecia.jpg

I found this guideline which explains how to connect ARC on sound bar. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/howtoguide/N0000463/5673/34295/Y/HW-D350/ZA

However, I am not sure if this is same procedure that you mentioned (or does my DVD device has the same features or ARC compatible). Therefore, I would appreciate if you could explain how can I connect further, and kindly send a link that shows the exact cable for my understanding, which I can buy. Thank you.

Hmmm...that's it? is there any hope left in today's technological world?

How about following additional devices?

Can any of these items help to work off the LG surround sound speakers?

Thanks for your explanation.

Okay, one last thing I wish to know. How about if I get an HDMI Home Theater AV Receiver/Amplifier, like this one (ONKYO HT-R550): http://www.ebay.com/itm/151380456928

User Manual: http://www.intl.onkyo.com/downloads/manuals/pdf/ht-sr800_manual_e.pdf

Will it be then possible to setup my 5.1 system? Thanks again :)

Thank you so much makkem for your great support and guidance. To make the receiver work, I have the HDMI cable but I will get this SPDIF cable: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110936590717

My best wishes for you :)
