Hello,
I am trying to decide between a laptop with an i7-2720QM or an i7-2620QM or an i7-2520QM, and either an Intel HD Graphics 3000 or Nvidia NVS 4200M 512MB DDR3 Discrete Graphics card.

I use the laptop for business applications, not gaming. I do lots of multitasking, but not much in the way of video or demanding graphics.

I would appreciate someone educating me a bit on how to make a choice. Thanks.

You have some nonexistent CPU model numbers up there. What are the actual laptops you are looking at? If you want good multitasking, then get a "QM" processor. HD 3000 gfx is good enough if you wont be using much 3d applications.

Well, I'm looking at a Dell E6520, and the processors are listed as: Intel Core i7-2720QM processor (2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.30 GHz), or Intel Dual Core i5-2520M, 2.50GHz, 1066MHz 3M L2 Cache, or Intel Core i7-2620M processor (2.70 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.40 GHz). Sorry if I didn't provide enough info.

So there is no benefit to getting the Nvidia gpu unless I'm doing 3d?
