PS2 left audio not working.

Hello all. I have an issue with the left audio of my PS2, and it isn't the TV's fault because it plays stereo on the Gamecube just fine. Now the left audio jack is the white plug, and on my old set of cables the white plug had a loose wire that popped out. I got another set of cables with no loose wires and it still refuses to play left audio. Is this is system's fault? How can I fix this? Thanks for any help.

Maybe there is a way to use mono on both of my TV speakers using some kind of splitter? This isn't ideal but it is better than what I have now.
