ps3 to projector

Hi I have a ps3 going to benq ms500 via the yellow video wire and it all looks good my question is if I use hdmi to vga instead of the yellow video wire will the picture improve much ?

your projector is only 800x600 so I don't think so.

Yes but stat sheet says supports up to 1080p I'm a complete newbie at this so is that not hd

it will downsize 1080p to 800x600. there are simply that many pixels. it will accept the signal and downsize it.

So it will be a complete waste of money to buy a hdmi to vga connection ?

How about the s video connection still the same outcome yes

unless you are getting noise/artifacts from the cabling then it will be much of a muchness. you will not get a sharper image.

No, all the above are wrong. Projectors are different and not your usual monitor you can compare to. The Lens is quite small in projectors and the compression in a 800*600 lens can easily display 1080p with crisp.

Hdmi will be much much much improvement.

source please. nothing to do with lenses. there are pixels and there are a number of them and no matter what you have the same number of them regardless of the signal.

i am talking about upscaling. a 800*600 projector can do it, if it says it can do 1080p upscaling then it will. I've seen it done personally and the lens window was also 800*600. You're talking about a window of the size of a footy card, you know how dense the pixels are...

this is what upscaling is and it is to do with the source signal being a lower resolution than the display. NOT the other way around.
