I wonder if anybody with qualcom stock sold it for the artificialy increased price in the short window of time that it existed as such. If so; incredible luck or insider trading. Both seem equally likely.

One device with high quality audio/music, phone, GPS, gaming, wi-fi streaming with long battery life would be sooooo cooooooollll :)
Hope Google/Samsung Galaxy S3.1 can make it happen. When do we get quad and octo cores ??!!

[citation][nom]Shadow703793[/nom]Damn.... these ARM CPUs keep getting faster and faster... how long did it take the x86 CPUs to break 1Ghz?[/citation]

I know, They're bumping up the clockspeed so fast. Makes you wonder what the limit on the ARM CPU is.

1080p on my phone? really? dunno bout you but my droid looks pretty damn good... my smaller 720p tvs look just as good as my 1080p larger tv... learn to make it cheaper..then you have my business.

hopefully, we will be building our own cellphones with nvidia or amd graphics and qualcomm's quad core cpu within a few years..

i dont exactly know where to put the heatsink on such a system though

Well ARM exists since 1983 and the first x86 cpu was launched in 1978. So it took them longer to reach the 1GHz than the x86 processors.

[citation][nom]bsbsbsbs[/nom]I had never even dreamed of a dual core phone. Not until now that is. Kinda sad I bought a galaxy S now.[/citation]

It's hard to keep up - one year ago, most phones came with 500-600 MHz ARMv6 processors, then the 1GHz Snapdragon ARMv7 started appearing, being a huge leap forward. Now it's starting to look rather lame, 65nm and single-core. Looks like we have to upgrade our phones every year to keep up, just as we do with our computers. I am however keeping my HTC Desire until phones start coming with out-of-order architectures some time in 2012 or so.

ARM processors benefit from being in a time of very small transistor manufacturing processes, x86 at its same level of infancy all those years ago didn't have the luxury of 45nm etc etc. Therefore you can't really compare the advancement of the two technologies. It is still very good to see these speed jumps being made, in the end the consumer benefits with the products sporting these processors.

These new processors are faster and use less power. So..can i upgrade my CPU on my Galaxy S? Is it the same socket..?

[citation][nom]lradunovic77[/nom]So what's up with all these smart phones and crap. I just need fucking phone meaning i only want to call people and nothing else.[/citation]

Then dont buy a smartphone? Is this really that hard? Some people need data on the go, others like yourself only need a cheap flip phone. So go buy a cheap flip phone, and let the people who need smartphones buy smartphones.

You may wanna try that out. Sounds more like you.
