Hi, I've been debating whether to get a P7550 2.26 GHz or a P8700 2.53 GHz for mostly surfing the web, playing some games (can it run Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2?), and some video editing/processing. Will the small boost in speed be significant for the $100 extra? It's an HP HDX16t with a GeForce 9600M GT.

Also, I've been looking at a Lenovo ThinkPad T500 with a P8700 2.53 Ghz and an ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 256MB.

Which do you think is better? Both will have 4GB of RAM.

The HP has DDR2 and the Lenovo has DDR3.
The HP has a 7200 RPM hard drive while the Lenovo has a 5400 RPM.
The HP has a 1920x1080p screen while the Lenovo has a WXGA LED backlit display.
The HP with 2.26 GHz is about the same price as the Lenovo with 2.53 GHz.

So basically 2 questions:

1) will the extra processing speed help a lot?
2) which has better specs for my needs? (gaming/video processing)

Thanks!

Solution
1) Help a lot? probably not, but I think you may see a difference. Video editing will like the speed boost in the processor.

2) The HP will be the better choice especially if you get the P8700. The 9600m GT is a better GPU than the 3650 and will provide a better gaming experience.
