Dear Tom, and anyone else out there who can help me! For years I have used a Canon ZR 850
digital camcorder. I have had no problems with importing the video to my computer. This camera
uses a firewire - not a USB cable. I unplugged the firewire from the back of my computer to see
if I could use it with another computer - I couldn't. So I plugged it back in (not sure which of the
3 plugs I unplugged it from - but they are all the same I believe), and since plugging it back in,(I have
tried all 3 of the plugs)
I cannot get my computer (windows vista) to recognize the camera. I have tried everything, even
buying a new firewire. I have video I desperately need to transfer and edit for something I was
hired to video - can anyone help me understand why it doesn't work and what I could do to
get it working again. I am DESPERATE!!!!!

Use the CD that came with the camcorder. Install the driver; update the driver if necessary.

If you do not have a CD, then go to: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/minidv_camcorders/zr850
Download and install the driver. Restart the computer.
