r5 m330 or geforce 840m?

I'm looking to buy a rather cheap gaming laptop and in a local shop I was adviced by a clerk that helped me comparing two laptops.
I was told that the performance of the AMD radeon r5 m330 wouldn't differ too much from the performance of the nvidia geforce 840m. Later on I looked them up online myself and several websites (http/www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html, http/www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=2974&gid2=1955&compare=radeon-r5-m330-2gb-vs-geforce-840m-2gb) stated that the AMD card was significantly weaker.
So what do you think?

They are both pretty weak cards. The 840m is probably a little better, but I don't think the clerk was misleading you. Both will play games at low settings. Neither will handle demanding games very well.

Notebookcheck does not have benchmarks for the Radeon R5 M330, they estimate it should be a little better than the Radeon R5 M255 since the R5 M330 has higher clockspeed. But there is more to GPU performance than just clockspeed. See link below for game benchmarks. I would recommend going with the laptop that has the nVidia 840m due to actual benchmarks.

Hard to say. I would just go with the 840m. Although I did not include the nVidia 830m, Notebookcheck.net ranks the Radeon R5 M330 below the 830m. Naturally the 830m is less powerful than the 840m. This is all guess work until we see actual benchmark results.
