Random programs are repeatedly installed onto my computer. I've run several virus scans including the free Malware Bytes, as well as a fully-licensed Kaspersky scan. I've run rootkit removals and CCcleaner.

I've just removed a nasty browser virus that cause videos to pop up over youtube videos, and random ads in the corner of my screen, dramatically slowing my browsing speed. Since its removal, I've begun having programs such as System Healer (a fake virus scanning/removal tool) installed on my computer. There are several others, sometimes as many as 5 are installed in one day.

I'm running Windows Vista, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Could you name a couple of these programs please? Also, do you have User Account Control (UAC) turned on?

Not sure what User Account Control is... And I can't remember any of the programs except System Healer, as I uninstall them as soon as I notice them. One was "AnyBin" or something similar. I'll have to see tomorrow when more pop up. Hopefully they don't though.

From a user's perspective UAC is where Windows asks you to confirm you want a change to be made before it happens, such as asking whether to allow a program installer to continue. There's more on it here: (http/windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/turn-user-account-control-on-off).

If the programs do return or if some remain, try using Revo Uninstaller, it's free and is fairly powerful at what it does. You can download that here: (http/www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html), scroll down the page and download the 'Freeware' version. Then select the program in Revo Uninstaller and choose Uninstall, when asked, select 'Advanced' to do the deepest scan possible. Remove any traces found both in the file system and in the directory, you complete these steps inside of Revo Uninstaller, it will scan automatically after the 'built-in' uninstaller completes.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I'll try it out shortly. And yes, I do have the UAC on. It must be suppressed or bypassed for these downloads.
