RCA SURROUND SOUND SPEAKER WIRES

I was given a RCA Surround sound system,but I'm missing the color codes wires to the center and rear speakers. I tried some speaker wire I had copper and silver ,copper being the positive,but still no sound. Do i have to have the color coded wires for these speaker to work??

You need to post the model number / pictures, or what ever other information, I would not know from the information given, what you are trying to connect.
