Hi, I'm new to Tom's, and the board (I'm not sure if I should have started a new thread?) and I'm just learning how to upgrade my Inspiron 1545.
I bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250Gb and had the same problem as described in a previous post, getting it to connect...and I used a similar remedy. However, when I ran Samsung's "Magician" software after the installation, it said "SATA Interface: Your SSD will not deliver it's maximum performance because your system does not support a SATA 6Gb/s (SATA 3) port. Your SSD is connected with SATA 3gb/s (SATA) port"
And the improvement is barely noticeable. Just wondering, since other posters have reported very good results by upgrading to an SSD, is there an "upgrade" or something for the SATA port?? (I do intend to have a go at upgrading the processor and the ram (to 8Gb) in the near future.
