Hello,

I'm new to this forum but I was just reviewing your updated CPU charts for AMD and Intel

I noticed that on the Intel chart all the Pentium M laptop processors were missing do you have another chart somewhere for those? I was looking for my laptop processor.

Acer Aspire 1640
512Mb DDR2 533 Hynix RAM 3-3-3-7
Intel Pentium M 1.6Ghz 2Mb L2Cache/400 Mhz FSB "Dothan" mpga socket 479.
Intel 915GM Express Chipset.

I was trying to figure out which was the fastest processor I could upgrade to with a
533Mhz FSB but being careful not to order a mbga but a mpga.

Compuvest in Wa. U.S.A. seems to have a good selection of Pentium M's

Thanks

Pentium M 780 running at 2.26 GHz

Unless can you a "pin trick", (I'm no fan of this) then it's Pentium M 765 (would run at 2.8GHz)

Hi,
Thanks for the info great help

I don't think I need the fastest,

they have a Pentium M 780 2.26Ghz 533 Mhz/FSB but they want $234.00!! for it.

I seen a little bit slower 750 1.86Ghz 533Mhz/ FSB for $73.73 a little bit more reasonable perhaps only 17% slower but less than 50% of the price of a 780.

The fastest ones always cost more. . . a LOT more. That is why the "pin trick" (making the core logic think you have a 533 FSB processor instead of a 400Mhz one ) is popular.

Hi,

Pin Trick? how does that work... tie some copper wire between pins?
Got some pics and an explanation of that being done.

Cheers
Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the great info on the pin mod

Copper wire BSEL[0] pin C:16 to adjacent VSS pin C:15 and boom you
have a $236.00 upgrade from 1.6Ghz/400FSB to a 2.1Ghz/533FSB!! I may have to give that a try.

Cheers
Thanks
