Realtek HD Audio Speakers Not Working

My Realtek High-Definition Audio Speakers won't play sound. They are not muted, so that is not the problem. I've tried everything: rebooting my PC multiple times, uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver, updating the audio driver, disabling and re-enabling the audio device, muting and unmuting the speakers, etc. Nothing works, though! My speakers still wouldn't play audio. Why is that, and how do I fix my vexatious issue?

Solution
What is showing as your default playback device and any speakers showing in the configuration utility? See if there is a system restore point you can revert back to before the issues started. See if running a Linux Live disk (say Ubunty) gets you audio so you can rule out a hardware issue.
Need more details here, this happened after what? External or internal speakers? Did you try different speakers? Headphones work? No errors in the Device Manager?

1. I just logged onto my PC one day and the audio issues started happening.
2. Internal.
3. No.
4. Headphones don't work.
5. I checked the Device Manager and there were no errors.
