Recording music

I got CS6 so I believe I can handle the software part of recording and editing. I however do not know what I need as far as hardware goes. So, I'm hoping I can get some specifics as to what hardware I need for recording? a friend would like me to do some recording of their music and put together some stuff for their band. (cd making etc etc.)
Also, I'd like to know if and how CS6 would make the CD labels the circular label that goes on the CD. I've looked around hoping to find a sticky kinda thing that i could just stick on the cd's but i've yet to find anything like that. I'd love to get decent quality labels and such made.

In terms of the printing part, I know that Staples sells a package of those labels and one of the kits does include software to make circular labels. I know that thr older versions it was possible to make these labels but I'm not sure about CS6.
