recovery after dell server crash

Solution

Typically a server has the OS protected by a raid mirrror and data protected in a raid 5 , so no data should be lost. Any configuration on a server that does not include raid is asked for trouble and trouble will find you.

Backups? Backups? BACKUPS??

If not, then yeah your looking for trouble. Is it in RAID? If not then NO, your 'toast'. You can TRY to send it to DATA RECOVERY experts but your looking at $100K + if hard to recover. Considering a deal worth $1M to a company, a 100K is nothing for cost of recovery.
