Did you know that you can use the camera on your Apple device to redeem an iTunes gift card? It’s easier than it sounds! Just follow the steps below in order to use this clever alternate redemption method.
Step 1: If you’re using an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, you’ll need a gift card with a box surrounding the redemption code. You’ll also need an Internet connection, your Apple ID, iOS 7 or a later edition, and a room with plenty of light in it.
Step 2: First, open up the iTunes Store or the App Store. Scroll down to the end of the page and click on the Redeem icon. Use your Apple ID to sign in.
Step 3: Click on the Use Camera option. Take the label off of the back of your gift card, and hold the back of the card up to the camera. The camera will automatically enter the code for you. It’s that simple!
Step 4: If you’re using a Mac, make sure you have a gift card with a box around the code, a FaceTime camera, the Mountain Lion 10.8.3 operating system or a later version, your Apple ID, and iTunes 11. You’ll also need a room with plenty of light and an Internet connection.
Step 5: Open up iTunes or the App Store. Go to the Quick Links menu, and choose Redeem. Click on Redeem. Sign in with your Apple ID.
Step 6: Click on Use Camera. Peel away the gift card label, and hold the back of the gift card up to the camera. Just click Done once the balance appears.
