X-No-Archive: Yes

Does anyone know if any of the multi-brand remote controls will work with
Quad 66 series audio equipment? I remember seeing a 6 in 1 control, in a
shop which has since closed down, which listed Quad under the amplifier
section of brands supported, but can't remember the make of it. Also, I am
particularly looking for something to control the 66FM tuner and am not sure
if this item would have worked or not.

Quad have a replacement remote for the old R1 handset at around £45 inc. VAT
and delivery, but the 6 in 1 control that I saw only cost around £6, so I
would like to make sure that the official Quad remote is the only thing
available before I spend, potentially, nearly 8 times as much as I have to.

TIA.

Probably. The 66 tuner was sold together with a cheap common remote
control, if I'm not mistaken. But the big one (is it called R1?) is of
course the only real one to have. I have one myself, and think that it
is something to be proud of, both for the engineers that designed it,
and the owner, who has ease-of-use. No contest.

If you want, I can take my learning NAD remote and let it listen to
Quad in order to see how that goes.
