my pioneer 504 will only open the cd drawer. press the laserdisc open and the
cd drawer open after it makes a little noise. It was moved out of my house for
fire rehab. it was not wet or hot at all just in the house. They "cleaned"
it. but I,m not sure if tehy opened it. they may have just turned it upside
down jamed in a disk. I do not recall if it was loaded.
(the was july 1 we just got in last week) they did break my printer by
disconnecting some connections, messed up my wife barbies, and cut the water
line (inch from a connection) taking the door off my refridgerator. If there a
quick easy mecanical things I can check i will open her back up. i have
extracted disks before so I know how to get it open an look

There is an arm inside the unit which flips a switch to include the LD
drawer with the CD drawer . Either they took out the drawer and did not
have everything aligned properly when they reinstalled it or they broke the
selector tab.

If you take the top off the motor/belt is under the drawer on the left front
in cast you need to move it manually. A few inched toward the back under
the tray you'll see an off-white tab. What you can do is load a CD to the
play position. Then push inward on the off-white tab (which is really the
end ot the selector arm), as the laser carriage does down it should have let
you push this inward toward the spindle motor. That is what latches the LD
tray to the CD tray to eject the entire mechanism. If the off-white arm
never moves toward and away from the spindle motor then you have a problem
where it was reassembled incorrectly.
