The 60 Gig HDD in my old Gateway laptop (6022GZ) has died. I've built many desktop boxes from scratch, but never worked on a laptop. Is it necessary to install the same exact drive into the laptop that was originally in it? Or can I get one with a larger capacity and higher RPM that will fit? The old drive is a Hitachi Travelstar model IC25N060ATMR04-0 4200 RPM ATA/IDE.
Thanks,
Steve
