Hi Guys
I'm looking to replace my laptop. I'm using a HP ENVY 15 (2010), (link to a description here: http/hpfansite.com/2010/02/hp-2010-envy-15-review-ati-mobility-radeon-5830-core-i7-quad/ ).
The ENVY 15 has a few features I'd like to see on my replacement. I like the 15" HD screen, it gives a great viewing experience, and has a lot of real estate. I also like the well laid out keyboard, in particular the text navigation keys along the side, the full size arrow keys, and the general size of the keys and the space between them. I find most 15" laptops try and cram a number pad on, and think this just makes them awkward to use.
Portability is something I consider, but not hugely important. I need to be able to move the laptop around occasionally, and have a reliable few hours of battery. >5 hours is great.
The laptop is mostly for surfing the net and word processing, but I will use it to game. Not seriously, but enough that I want to enjoy the experience. Take Rome II on high specs as a bench mark.
This mean I want something with a bit of oomph. At least a decent i5, probably an i7, and with a dedicated graphics card.
I have found the Lenovo u430 ( http/shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/lenovo/u-series/u430-touch/) , and it appears to meet most of my requirements. Certainly its specs and keyboard are what I want. But I am concerned about the screen size. I think it is just too small. Let me know what you think of this, particularly using a 14" screen for movies and games.
I really like the look of the 15" MacBook, but want to stick to windows and can't afford that kind of price.
In short, I'm after a 15" HD screen, no numeric pad, a decent processor and dedicated graphics, all for around ?1000.
Any help is much appreciated.
