Replay Remote Question

Can I use the replay remote to change channels and volume on my TV? All it
seemed to be able to do is turn the TV on and off.

The older remotes (that came with 2xxx and 3xxx replays) could control
all common TV functions. I dont know about 4xxx. The newer ones (that
come with 5xxx) are limited to power & volume on a TV. This may be all
you need once you have the TV set up for use with the Replay.

An input select button could be of some use.

TV may require other buttons to recover from a power failure. For
example, some RCA TVs will reset themselves to channel 2 after a power
failure.

I once knew someone who was so used to the remote, she didn't know her
TV had any buttons on it.

Which remote? 3000 or 5000 series?

3000 series YES, 5000 Series only controls the Replay and TV power. I don't
know about the 4500 series, but I think it's the same as the 3000.

I forgot to add the 3000 series remotes, are able to control VCRs, Cable
boxes, TVs, and the Replay, of course.

The 5000-series remote controls the volume of my TV (ProScan 32"); also
the Mute function, but my TV is older than my RTV.

Depends on the TV, some of them yes you can, The buttons at the very
bottom of the replay are volume up/down on the tv, channel up/down on
the tv MUTE (on the tv) and of course the power button marked TV at the top.

Some televisions will work, in part, with one code, in part with another
code and completely with a 3rd code, the catch is to find that 3rd code

The original poster left out that the Replay 5xxx control controls TV
volume (up/down/mute) as well as power. It does this for all TVs it
supports.

Then it only controls the power, mute, and volume of the TV. If you need to
control other units, All-in-One makes a PVR remote similar to the 3000
series remote, for about $20.

If you have an older Palm or Visor (newer PDA's IR is too cheap), you can
get a program called OmniRemote for it and control any device with a
remote. It learns from the original though, so not good for lost remotes.
Button layout is totally programmable.
If you want codes already in it and non-programmable layout, you can get
NoviiRemote.
Took me from 5+ remotes to 1 Visor
IR strength could still be a little better, but you can get an IRBlaster
that'll boost it for about $20 (if I recall) if you have a really bright
room or need more than 8' range.

Dunno if this helps anybody, but thought I'd throw it out there.
