ReplayTV 2020 with Bad Modem

I have a ReplayTV 2020 (upgraded with 120GB HD) with a bad modem.
Otherwise, it works fine. It's not really that useful, unfortunately,
because it can't get listings and the clock is way off. I never
noticed, but you can't change the time manually, only by dialing in.
Anyway, what can I do to make it useful?
