Who cares if the camera is sub-par? Does it effect you in any way? The camera on the new iPod Touch is much improved over the camera on the previous iPod Touch that did not exist.

I feel as though the upcoming iPod Nano is going to be hot garbage. I am using it to go running, the gym, and other active stuff. Why the hell would someone like me want a camera for? It's a completely useless component, that is bound to break sooner, rather than later for us active lifestyle folks.
How about slapping in 32GB of flash based memory, and call it a day? That would be far more useful.

The camera will take up space... the reason I was initially drawn to the Touch was the compactness of it - I'd rather they made it even smaller rather than adding a poor quality camera to it.

Now... if the cameras in cell phones and small devices like the touch were actually good enough to replace a compact digital camera then I'd be more accepting, but I don't think it's possible to create a camera so small and have it provide acceptable quality.

I'm not really in the market for an iPod (I'm looking forward to the Zune HD due out next week), but if I were, I can't say that having a camera on my media player would be top on my list of desired features. Devices that start trying to do everything, cell phones for example, usually have to make compromises and end up doing a lot of things in a lackluster fashion. I would rather that my media player focus on doing media only, and do it extremely well.

Yeah, I'm sure the iPhone's dimensions would be much different with no camera. The iPod Touch will look exactly the same except it will have the ability to snap photos and somehow the fanboys here manage to spin this as a NEGATIVE thing. Don't know how the Nano will look because they always change it but I can't possibly imagine the device is any more bulky than it usually is but even in that case just the sheer fact that the camera is there will annoy some of you.

"I don't like devices that try to do everything." LOL. You carry around your cell phone, your MP3 player, a web browser, and a camera? Hey, good for you. I carry around an iPhone.

To be fair, I think the camera makes sense on an iPod Touch, but on a Nano, that's all sorts of stupid. Why would you need a camera at the gym, unless you're a complete sick degenerate pervert?

the "nano" is already too big in moy opinion. i thought the first small one was good, but i wasn't in the market for one then. I was browsing apples site yesterday trying to find a small mp3 player WITH a screen, and they do not have one, at all. Also, do they package these without the earbuds? i already have 100$ earbuds, i don't want to be forced to buy a lesser pair.

It doesn't matter about the quality of the camera or how many Megapixels it is, mobile phone or media player cameras such as this will always be rubbish due to the lack of optical zoom.

I have compared pictures from a Samsung Pixon, 12MP against an Canon EOS350D at 8MP, the Pixon is a FAIL.

Seriously, it is a gimic, stop putting shit cameras on good equipment, use a real camera

Apple is losing it's steam, it's product lines are less forward thinking and innovative as they have been previously. They need something fresh if they want to keep my interest.
