reset my bios

i have a toshiba c660 and my bios does not detect my hard drive. but when a hard drive [is not inserted] and u run on an external hard drive to load windows it picks up a drive with unallocated space and wont go away

I would say test your laptop hard drive if you can, if it is SATA and you have a desktop with SATA plug it in and see if the desktop sees the hard drive in the BIOS

i have tested the hard drive and is fine but when there is no hard drive in the laptop and u load windows xp from disk it cums up as unallocated space

Is the unallocated space the total size of your hard drive? If it is it sound like your hard drive was reformatted.
