i have old Sony speakers and a sub, (DAV-DZ570 5.1 Channel Home Theater System).
however, the amp/dvd-player broke. is it possible to wire these speakers to a new amp or receiver? it would be a shame to throw them out.
cheers
You will not be able to reuse the subwoofer.
Your HTS systems has a passive subwoofer powered from the main unit.
All AV receivers assume you have a self powered sub and don't provide a subwoofer amp. You would need to add an additional sub amp to use your passive sub with a standard AV receiver. Replacing it with a powered sub would be much better than adding an amp to the old one.
yes you can re use them.
note the wattage and the resistance of them. you will need to match them to the proper setup, but speakers are good till they disintegrate.
